microsoft give next
2017
Every year, Microsoft employees work collaboratively through the company's Give campaign to provide millions in financial aid and thousands of volunteer hours for thousands of nonprofits, schools, health services, education programs, and humanitarian efforts. The company's Give month happens throughout the month of October when all the efforts, programs, and organizations work together to make the greatest impact.
The overall Give campaign is driven by the sub-organizations within the company. While at WindowsNEXT Devices and Services, I volunteered to be the org's dedicated Visual Designer in preparation for 2017's Give month. It took weeks of pre-planning and design iterating to craft a cohesive visual campaign which would bring awareness and a call to action throughout the work campuses.

crafting the brand
My initial task was to craft a campaign logo which was specific to the existing branding of WindowsNEXT and the Give campaign.
I came up with a unique, simple and bold combination of both brands. As the logo solidified, so did the org campaign name "GiveNEXT".
I explored how some of the existing WindowsNEXT brand colors could be used interchangeably through all the visual brand elements to come.
I tested how the GiveNEXT logo would appear across various types of applications and backgrounds.
Additionally, I created a custom slogan treatment which could be used as an optional messaging element.
driving visual awareness
Once all the branding elements were established I received additional requirements from the campaign organizers and began crafting a visually cohesive collection of posters which would be displayed throughout the WindowsNEXT buildings and campus areas. Several examples of these are shown below.
For an even greater visual emphasis of the Give campaign, I designed and printed large 120"x24" banners, shown below, which were displayed in the lobby area of each building.
To push the visual campaign even further, I designed a set of email bumpers, shown below, for the Give staff and volunteers to utilize in their related communications.
running and giving
Microsoft's Give 5K Walk/Run fundraiser is the company's largest fundraiser event during Give month, which attracts 3,000+ participants to raise up to $500,000 in donations for select charities. Being a fitness enthusiast myself, I was particularly excited about this event. I volunteered additional time to design several other elements shown below, specific to WindowsNEXT and the Give 5K.
putting it all into action
The 2017 Microsoft Give was an amazing experience and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to take part in making it happen within WindowsNEXT. Below are several photos I captured throughout Give month with some of my designs in action.
